Estimate Questions

Which optional questions your estimator asks, what changes when you turn one off, and when the location questions are skipped.

Company Settings → Form Options → Estimate Questions decides how much your estimator asks. Every question loses you some homeowners who give up before the end, so it's a trade: fewer questions means more leads, more questions means better-qualified ones.

The questions you can turn off

QuestionChanges the price?With it off
What system do you have now?NoThe lead has no current system. Location questions you charge a surcharge for are asked of everyone, because the estimator can't tell which ones apply.
Do you have ductwork?NoThe lead has no ductwork answer.
What efficiency level do you prefer?YesGas furnace estimates use your 80% equipment. The question is only asked for gas furnace systems.

All three start on. Each switch saves the moment you flip it — there's no Save button. Only owners and admins can open Form Options.

When are you looking to install? has no switch: every homeowner is asked it, because their answer is most of the lead score.

Location questions follow your surcharges

Where is your furnace or indoor unit? and Where is your outdoor unit? only change the price through your location surcharges, so the estimator skips a question that can't change it:

QuestionAsked while
Where is your furnace or indoor unit?Your Attic or Crawlspace surcharge is more than $0
Where is your outdoor unit?Your Rooftop surcharge is more than $0

The card shows whether each one is asked right now. To change that, edit the amounts in Company Settings → Price Book → Location surcharges.

Before you turn one off

  • Current system: with it off, every homeowner gets both location questions while you charge location surcharges. That saves a question only for homes with both an indoor and an outdoor unit. A homeowner with a furnace and no outdoor unit answers No Outdoor Unit, so keep that answer ticked in Location Options.
  • Efficiency: price your 80% equipment for every gas furnace family you sell. If only the 95+% equipment is priced, those homeowners get a home visit instead of a price. The lead's estimate summary names the 80% system, since that's what was priced.
  • Your leads: an answer the homeowner wasn't asked shows as N/A on the lead's detail page and is left out of the estimate summary in your lead notification email and CRM.

Previewing your changes

Preview form, at the top of Form Options, walks the same questions your homeowners get — switched-off questions and skipped location questions don't appear.
