Systems You Sell

How the system switches change the questions homeowners are asked, which of your prices each answer uses, and what the dots next to each system mean.

The Equipment list on the left of Company Settings → Price Book has a switch for each family of systems. Switch a family off and homeowners can't choose it. Its prices aren't deleted — switch it back on and they're still there.

What the switches change for homeowners

They decide which answers homeowners can pick for two questions: "What system do you have now?" (unless you've turned it off) and "What system would you like?"

The first one catches people out. A homeowner who has a system you've switched off can't say so — they have to pick something else, or Other / Not Sure. Hydronic Heating starts switched off, so homeowners with a boiler can't pick Boiler until you switch it on. Switching it on adds Boiler, Combi Boiler and Air-to-Water Heat Pump to both questions.

Other / Not Sure has a switch too. A homeowner who picks it as the system they'd like is offered a home visit instead of a price.

A few names differ on the homeowner's side: they see Gas Furnace & AC, Gas Furnace & Heat Pump and Package Heat & Cool.

Which of your prices an answer uses

  • Gas furnace families: a homeowner who picks one is asked "What efficiency level do you prefer?". High Efficiency (95%+) uses your 95+% equipment; Mid Efficiency (80%) and I'm Not Sure use your 80% equipment. Price both, or a homeowner can land on the one you left empty. If you've turned the question off, your 80% equipment is always used.
  • Mini Split / Ductless: a homeowner is asked "How many rooms do you want to heat and cool?". Just one room uses your Single-Zone prices and Several rooms your Multi-Zone prices — see Mini-Splits.
  • Hydronic Heating: Boiler, Combi Boiler and Air-to-Water Heat Pump all use the same three prices — see Hydronic Heating.

Switching a family on or off

Each switch saves the moment you flip it. You can't switch off the last family that's on — you'll see "At least one system must be enabled."

Form Options can undo a switch. Saving Location Options in Company Settings → Form Options also saves your system switches as they were when that page was opened. If you have Form Options open in another tab, reload it before you save there, or it can switch a family back.

What the dots mean

The dot beside each system in the list shows whether it has anything saved:

  • Orange, with an Unsaved badge — you've made changes you haven't saved.
  • Green — the system has saved equipment. That isn't the same as having prices: a system you saved with the cost boxes left empty is green too, and isn't priced.
  • Grey — nothing saved yet. Homeowners who pick it are offered a home visit.

The Selling Points page lists systems based on these switches too — see Customize for Specific Systems.
