Price Book

What each section of the Price Book changes for homeowners, how their price is put together, and how to set it up without showing a wrong price.

Company Settings → Price Book holds every number behind the prices homeowners see — which systems you sell, your equipment and what it costs, your margins and surcharges, and how the price and monthly payment are shown. Only owners and admins can open it — members don't see the tab. What each option is called, and the bullets under Included with every install, are set in Selling Points.

How a homeowner's price is put together

  1. The system they want. They can only pick systems you've switched on. For gas furnace systems, their answer to "What efficiency level do you prefer?" decides whether your 80% or 95+% equipment is used — or, if you've turned that question off, your 80% equipment always is.
  2. A size. Square footage and the age of the home give a system size in tons — or, for a single-room mini-split, the size of the room. The estimator looks up your equipment at that size.
  3. Three options, each priced by your pricing mode.
    • Calculator: your equipment and materials, plus labor, warranty and additional costs from Business Pricing, plus any location surcharge — then your margins on top of all of that, then maintenance.
    • Flat-rate: your price for that size, plus any location surcharge.
  4. The price they see — exact, or as your range — with As low as $X/mo underneath.

If a step can't be completed — the system isn't priced at that size, the home is outside the sizes you can price, they don't know their square footage — the homeowner is offered a home visit instead. See Online Estimate Home Visits.

Your options is the page with your three options side by side. The option they chose is the page headed Confirm Your Estimate with a Free Home Visit, which they reach by clicking Continue on one. The Get Pre-Approved button only appears if you've added a pre-approval link, and the financing disclaimer is also at the foot of every step of the form itself.

When changes reach homeowners

Prices are worked out once, when the homeowner submits, and saved with their estimate. Change a price, your margins, a surcharge, your range or your payment factor, and it applies from the next estimate. A homeowner who reopens an old results link still sees the price they were given, and so do lead emails and CRM entries that have already gone out.

Financing offers, the pre-approval link and the disclaimer are different. They're read fresh every time a page opens, so changes show up on old results links as well — the same as your tier names and selling points.

Saving

  • Saved the moment you change it: the pricing mode, the system switches, the sizing basis, photos, and Reset to defaults.
  • Saved with the section's own Save button: Location surcharges, Pricing Range, Financing options and Business Pricing. Each has a Discard button that puts it back to what was last saved.
  • Saved one system at a time: each system's equipment has its own Save. You're asked before you switch to another system with unsaved changes, and your browser warns you if you try to leave.

Unsaved changes in Location surcharges, Pricing Range, Financing options and Business Pricing are lost without a warning if you leave the page. Save each section before you move on.

Setting up a new account

A new account has no equipment, so until you add some, every homeowner who finishes the form is offered a home visit instead of a price. Work through the page in this order:

  1. Choose your pricing mode.
  2. Switch off the systems you don't sell — see Systems You Sell.
  3. Price every size of every system you left on — see Equipment, Tiers & Prices.
  4. Check Business Pricing, if you're using Calculator mode.
  5. Set your location surcharges, pricing range and financing options.
  6. Preview your prices, then run a test estimate.

Previewing your prices

Preview pricing, at the top right of the page, opens your options page in a new tab, priced from your saved settings for a sample home. Use the Settings panel beside it to change the system, square footage, home age and equipment locations, and watch the prices change. The button stays greyed out until at least one system has equipment — hover it to see "Configure equipment for at least one system to enable preview."

A few things differ from what a real homeowner gets:

  • It only shows what's saved. Save your changes, then reload the preview tab.
  • The rebates card never appears.
  • The System list includes systems you've switched off.
  • The Furnace location control only appears for furnace systems. Real homeowners are asked where their equipment is based on the system they have now, so to check an attic or crawlspace surcharge on a heat pump or AC price, run a test estimate.
  • A control that disappears keeps its last value. Choose Rooftop, then switch to a system with no outdoor unit, and the rooftop surcharge still counts.
  • There's no Not Sure option for home age.
  • The Settings panel only appears on a wide screen.

To see exactly what a homeowner gets, run a test estimate.
